The University of Cambridge CELTA course is the oldest 4-week initial teacher training course for ESL teachers in the United States. The first CELTA course run in the USA was in San Francisco in 1980. Since then, thousands of Americans have gained their CELTA certification and gone on to teach English both in the US and abroad.
Over the last three decades, CELTA in the USA has provided qualified teachers to ESL schools and colleges throughout the fifty states. And since the 1980s, the demand for American English and American teachers abroad has grown exponentially around the world.
Today, the CELTA course has a solid reputation in the industry for its standards and quality training. A large number of school directors and owners value CELTA-qualified teachers in particular, especially as many of them have taken the CELTA course themselves.
Today, there are 9 centers that offer CELTA certification in the USA: CELTA New York, CELTA Boston, CELTA Miami, San Francisco, San Diego, Denver, Honolulu and two in Texas (Houston and Cyfair).
