Lizzy has been teaching English for over 10 years. After graduating from the University of Wales, Cardiff and en route to a career in publishing, Lizzy discovered TEFL. Since then, Lizzy has completed her own CELTA course and taught in Poland, Argentina, the UK, Spain and the US. She gave her first teacher training seminar at International House, Katowice in 1999 and has since been actively involved in the in-house teacher training programs at her schools around the world.
In 2001 Lizzy completed the extensive DELTA course at International House in Buenos Aires. In 2003, while Assistant Director of Studies for Younger Learners at Hyland Language Center, Madrid, Lizzy fulfilled a career long ambition to become a CELTA trainer.
Lizzy came to New York in the summer of 2007 to teach a four-week course. Along the way she fell in love with the city and returned five months later to take a permanent position at Teaching House. Since coming to New York, Lizzy has trained over 150 teachers and counting.
Lizzy loves teaching for the diversity it brings and for the creativity it allows. She has taught general, business and academic English to multi and mono lingual groups and individuals of all ages (from 3 to 73); prepared students for their IELTS and Cambridge PET, FCE, CAE and CPE exams; and given talks at ESOL conferences in both hemispheres.
In her free time she enjoys walking around the city and in the countryside, taking photos, going to concerts of all genres, playing name that tune and sampling the (multi) cultural delights New York has to offer.
