Accommodation For Teaching House Students

As many of our students come from outside New York City and the Tri-State region, Teaching House has had plenty of experience setting them up with different types of short-term accommodation, from hostels to homestays to sublets. We are happy to provide assistance to help students find accommodation that is comfortable, convenient, safe and affordable.

We are currently making reservations for students at the 92nd St YMCA de Hirsch Residence in Manhattan and the Greenpoint YMCA in Brooklyn. For more information, see below:

The de Hirsch Residence at 92nd St Y

Located at 1395 Lexington Ave at 92nd Street, the 92Y is a hub of cultural activity. With guest lectures from the world's leaders in politics, media, and art, as well as inrivalled gym, music, and art facilities, the 92Y is truly an East Side hotspot. And the de Hirsch Residence is one of the proud organization's services.

Offering dormitory-style housing in single and double rooms, as well as community bathrooms and kitchens, the de Hirsch Residence is a perfect place to stay for our students. In addition to a room, as a resident you have access to the 92Y library as well as reduced fees for its facilities and events.

To get to Teaching House (101 Murray Street) from the de Hirsch Residence, simply take the 4 or 5 trains to Fulton Street (a trip of approximately 30 minutes, including walking time).

Rooms at the de Hirsch Residence are priced from $1150 for 28 nights.

For more information about booking at the de Hirsch Residence, or if you have general questions about accommadation during your CELTA course, please contact us.

The Greenpoint YMCA

Of the many YMCAs spread across New York City, the Greenpoint YMCA offers the best balance between price, location, and facilities. Named for the north Brooklyn neighborhood where it's located, this YMCA, like all others, has excellent gym facilities, including a pool, and various fitness and well-being classes. Its rooms are modest, but well-priced and well-tended. But the real highlight of this YMCA is the neighborhood it's located in: Greenpoint is a safe and busy place with plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars. It's also very close to the neighborhood of Williamsburg, a short subway ride (on the L) to midtown Manhattan, and an approximately 45 minute subway ride (on the G then the A/C) to Teaching House.

Rooms are the Greenpoint YMCA are priced from $800 for 28 nights.

For questions about the Greenpoint YMCA, including general questions or questions about pricing, the neighborhood, or the commute, don't hesitate to contact us.
