YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY:
1. To accompany groups on excursions and ensure the safety and welfare of the students, as well as providing them with information to help them get the maximum benefit from their visit
2. To ensure the success of each timetabled activity session, it is essential to thoroughly prepare. This involves:
• Comprehensive planning and promotion of the activity
• Identifying and addressing all potential hazards related to Health & Safety according to established guidelines, and making necessary provisions to prevent accidents
• Familiarising yourself with all necessary instructions and directions prior to the start of the session
• Setting up all equipment and decorations, if applicable, before the arrival of students
• Packing away all equipment and materials and tidying the activity space after the session
3. To actively encourage students’ involvement in activities, leading by example
4. To ensure that listed students are present at each session and to maintain accurate registers of their attendance
5. To provide feedback on the programme to the Activity Manager
6. If holding a specialist qualification that is eligible for an increment, to undertake duties pertaining to this
7. To supervise student behaviour both on and off campus
8. To carry out meal time and free-time supervision and, if residential, night duties on a rota basis with other residential staff. Other residential duties include morning roll calls, room checks and generally caring for the welfare of our students
9. To assist with airport transfers and student arrivals and departures
10. To assist with centre administration as directed
11. To assist in opening and closing the centre
12. Additional duties as required
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS ESSENTIAL
• Be 18 years old or older
• Complete fluency in English
• Keen interest in sport, culture, sightseeing
• Interested in, and able to organise activities such as drama, arts & crafts, talent shows etc.
• Enthusiastic, organised and a natural leader
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
• Able to motivate and encourage large groups of teenagers
• Able to address large groups of young people
• Able to sustain long periods of physical activity
• Activity enjoy spending time with children/teenagers
• Capable of using your own initiative
• Responsible and flexible
• Have the right to live and work in the country of employment
• Attend training prior to starting work.
DESIRABLE
Qualification in related subjects (e.g. arts, drama, sports, etc)
Coaching / art teaching qualifications
Experience in summer school / holiday camps or in similar structures
Experience of working with children or teenagers
Competent sports/games person with knowledge of the rules and organisation of one or more sports
First-aid certificate, qualification in child supervision, swimming certificate, etc.
The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK by the start of their employment.
